It was recently announced that Lancashire based Envirosystems UK Ltd is a finalist for the Agribusiness category of the North West Family Business Awards 2022.
Envirosystems beat strong competition with a record number of 186 businesses entering the awards from across the North West region. The family business award winners will be announced at The Rum Warehouse, Titanic Hotel, Liverpool with host, food writer and presenter Nigel Barden, on Friday 13th May 2022.
Liz Russell, Managing Director at Envirosystems comments: “after starting the business from a blank sheet of paper back in 2001 I’m proud that we still have a ‘family feel’ at the heart of all we do – with the second generation and three members of the family working in the business today.
“Our core purpose is, and has always been, to deliver sustainable solutions to dairy farmers, helping them to produce higher quality milk from healthy, happy cows.”
Dr Henry Russell, Operations Director at Envirosystems says: “In recent years, to improve our product quality and service to our customers we have put a lot of focus on the manufacturing side of our business.
“This includes a significant investment into renovating Foggs Farm, a former farm near Garstang, into a renewable-heat drying facility where we now make ‘EnviroBed’ livestock bedding. This has created jobs for the local community as well as recycling waste paper crumble into the best quality bedding we have ever made for our dairy farming customers.”
Sally Russell, PR and Content Coordinator at Envirosystems adds: “We are also undertaking exciting Defra-backed research at our laboratories investigating how the next generation of our ‘SlurryBugs’ bacterial slurry inoculants can reduce emissions from dairy cow slurry.
“This cutting-edge research on slurry emissions is very topical as farmers are facing more pressure to meet ammonia emission targets as part of the Government’s Clean Air Strategy.”
Sue Howorth, Co-founder and Director at The Family Business Network said: “We were inundated with some incredible entries and we have been burning the midnight oil to get through them as they came in right up to the wire. The judges had extremely difficult decisions to make so the finalists should be extremely proud of themselves!”
Dave Clarkson, Co-Director at The Family Business Network said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to fill out an application form and enter. We’ve been absolutely blown away by the strength and diversity of applications.”
Jacqui Jackson from Thomas Jardine & Co and 2022 North West Awards Chair of Judges said: “The number and quality of applications from across the North West has been outstanding, the businesses are clearly proud to be family businesses and the detail in many of the entries has demonstrated that they are very progressive and innovative.”
The finalists will now receive a visit from our specially selected panel of expert judges before the judges make their final decisions. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on Friday 13th May.
